Samsung Launches Galaxy S Accessories

Samsung Telecommunications America today announced a line of accessories for the Android-powered Galaxy
S smart phone portfolio. The lineup of premium Galaxy S accessories, include a desktop dock, vehicle dock and backup battery charging system.
The Samsung Galaxy S accessory lineup includes a small, compact desktop dock providing consumers an option to view movies, listen to music, display as a digital picture frame and use the desktop speakerphone when making hands-free calls while at a desk or in a home office. The Galaxy S desktop dock, which also doubles as a charger, allows for application downloads and internet browsing features such as Google Search by Voice, which allows users to speak their search query. Users can download the Desk Home application from the Android marketplace by searching for “desk home Samsung”. The Desk Home application can switch brightness levels from day to night and provides one-touch access to the Daily Briefing, alarm clock, music, pictures, movie gallery and local weather so that you can always stay up-to-date with daily activities.
The Galaxy S portable vehicle dock allows users to mount their device to a car windshield or dashboard and display turn-by-turn instructions for a hands-free GPS navigation experience. Users can receive and display the latest traffic alerts, location-based information and activate the Google Search by Voice features when the Galaxy S smart phone is in the vehicle dock. The lightweight vehicle dock rotates freely between landscape and portrait modes and is attachable to either the windshield or car dashboard. The vehicle dock also contains a micro USB connection to conveniently charge a phone while in-use.
The Samsung Galaxy S accessories lineup offers a charging solution that includes three components such as an extra 1500 mAh battery, a spare battery charger with phone stand and a wall charger for charging your phone and spare battery separately. The backup charger is small enough to fit in a pocket, purse or briefcase to transport and protect a charged backup battery allowing users smart phones to always stay powered-up while on-the-go.
Customers can also personalize Galaxy S smart phones with multiple protective case options, available in a variety of colors, patterns and fabrics. Additional Galaxy S accessories include a three-pack screen protector set with anti-scratch, mirror, and privacy screens as well as the Samsung WMG1602 Wi-Fi HD streaming device. The Samsung WMG160 allows users to stream movies, music, and photos directly from a Galaxy S smart phone to an HDTV.
Samsung Launches Terabyte Spinpoint MT2 2.5″ Mobile Hard Drive

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that it has started shipping its new Spinpoint MT2 1 terabyte (TB) 2.5” internal mobile hard disk drive. It is suited for use in portable storage solutions, such as the newly released Samsung S2 Portable 1TB USB Drives. Other applications include digital TVs, home media systems and set-top boxes.
Employing 333GB per-platter technology, the new Spinpoint MT2 drive offers up to 1TB for personal digital collections such as photos, music, video and work files. Running at 5400rpm speed, the MT2 has a 12.5mm form factor and utilizes Samsung’s SilentSeek and NoiseGuard technologies to minimize noise levels during drive operation.
The performance and reliability features of the Spinpoint MT2 have been enhanced with an optimized design and improved suspension for multidisc. The new MT2 drive delivers about 20% increased read/write performance and 4% lower power consumption compared with competitive drives, and it features shock resistance levels of 400G (2ms) in operation mode and 800G (1ms) when the power is off. Equipped with Samsung’s dynamic balancing technology, the drive’s overall stability and reliability is optimized as a high-performing solution.
The halogen-free drive complies with the European Union’s Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS).
The Spinpoint MT2 features 5400rpm speed rotation, SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and Native Command Queuing functions for advanced performance.
The Spinpoint MT2 drive has an 8MB buffer memory and is available in 750GB and 1TB capacity. Initial shipments are available now.
Loop Mobile Launches SmartPaid

Nokia in Talks to Buy Motorola’s Telecom Equipment Arm

Nokia Siemens Networks is in talks to buy the telecom-equipment arm of Motorola Inc, according to the Wall Street Journal. Quoting people familiar with the matter, the Journal said a deal could be worth $1.1 billion to $1.3 billion and could be reached in the next few weeks. Nokia Siemens Networks is a joint venture of Nokia Corp of Finland and Siemens AG of Germany.
Via email, Motorola spokeswoman Tama McWhinney declined to comment, saying the company does not comment on rumors. Siemens was not immediately available for comment.

Nokia Siemens Networks Drives Evolution to TD-LTE

Telecom operators across the globe can now gain quick and simple access to LTE-based mobile broadband for unpaired frequency bands. At the Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) Industry Conference today, Nokia Siemens Networks announced that it has fully integrated TD-LTE with its existing mobile platforms including base stations and core networks. The company also showcased the industry’s first concurrent TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE demo. The co-existence of the two technologies is a significant step towards facilitating operators’ transition to TD-LTE and was conducted on Nokia Siemens Networks’ Flexi Multiradio Base Station.
Motorola Announced H17txt Bluetooth Headset

Motorola announced H17txt with MotoSpeak, a Bluetooth headset designed to keep you connected and responsible on and off the road. The new headset was created to optimize the text-to-speech technology and experience, which, when paired with an application, reads text messages (SMS) into the headset, in real time. Plus, you have the added ability to customize an automated response and automatically enable text-to-speech when the headset is powered on. H17txt with MotoSpeak will be available starting April 1 through Verizon Wireless.
