Udaipur, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be University and SPIC MACAY, New Delhi, have signed an MoU with the objective of bringing Indian classical music to every household. The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, Peeth Sthavir Dr. Kaushal Nagda, Assistant Registrar Dr. Dharmendra Rajora, along with J.P. Bhatnagar, D.K. Gupta, and Dr. Devendra Singh Chauhan from SPIC MACAY.
Prof. Sarangdevot announced that a Heritage Club will be established at Vidyapeeth to provide a platform for art lovers of Indian music nationwide to showcase their talents to the public. He emphasized that preserving Indian music, a significant part of our heritage, is everyone's responsibility. The MoU includes organizing events featuring national and international artists in schools and colleges to connect with the youth.
Bhatnagar elaborated on SPIC MACAY, a non-political, national voluntary organization founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, a Padma Shri awardee. SPIC MACAY has over 500 chapters worldwide, aiming to connect the younger generation with Indian culture through programs in classical music, dance, folk music, poetry, theater, traditional art, crafts, and yoga in educational institutions. The organization plans to hold meetings, heritage fests, and conventions to introduce new and seasoned artists to the youth.
The event was attended by Controller of Examinations Dr. Paras Jain, Dr. Bhawani Pal Singh Rathore, Dr. Avneesh Nagar, Dr. Dilip Singh Chauhan, Private Secretary K.K. Kumawat, Jitendra Singh Chauhan, Dr. Chandresh Chhatlani, Dr. Ashish Nandwana, Dr. Vikas Sahu, Dr. Gunbala Ameta, Saurabh Singh, and other academic members.
