Passing of Maharawal Mahipal Singh of Dungarpur Royal Family

Maharawal Mahipal Singh of the Dungarpur royal family passed away early on Saturday. The news of his demise has cast a wave of grief across the entire region.

Mahipal Singh was the father of former Member of Parliament Harsh Vardhan Singh Dungarpur and elder brother of renowned cricketer Raj Singh Dungarpur. His father, the late Maharawal Laxman Singh, was the President of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

Aged 92, Mahipal Singh was a well-informed individual in the fields of politics, international relations, literature, sports, wildlife, environment, dairy development, art, and culture. He served as the Chairman of the International Court of Justice and also held the position of Chairman in the Jagatdhatri Mata Temple Trust, established by his uncle Dr. Nagendra Singh.

His last journey will commence today, Saturday, at 2 p.m. from Uday Bilas Palace Dungarpur to Rajghat Surpur (Bhoolamani).

His demise has led to deep sorrow expressed by several politicians, members of former royal families, members of the social and cultural sector, chief ministers' public relations officers, and press attaches, including Gopendra Nath Bhatt.
