Major Crackdown: 06 Arrested for Illegal Sand Mining in Chambal River

 

Kota,  The Kota Municipal Corporation has launched a special crackdown operation against individuals accused of illegal sand mining on land allocated for solid waste management near the Chambal River in Mardia Basti. City SP Dr. Amrita Duhan informed that, under the direction of Additional Police Superintendent Dilip Saini and supervision of Deputy Police Superintendent Rajesh Soni, a police team was formed led by Kunhadi Police Station in-charge Mr. Arvind Bharadwaj. The team comprised ASI Dhanraj, Mohammad Sharif, Head Constable Janakram, Constables Hemant, Surendra, Vijendra, Vikas Kumar, and Shivram. This police team conducted the operation.

According to a report by Kota Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Mahaveer Singh, illegal sand mining was being carried out on plot number 816/1, covering an area of 8.89 hectares allocated for solid waste management by the Kota Municipal Corporation in the Balita Gram. Action was recommended against those involved.

Upon receiving information about illegal sand mining, the police team reached the banks of the Chambal River near Mardia Basti, where soil excavation was underway beneath the Basti area. Four dumpers were found carrying illegal soil, and two JCBs were seized. Hemraj, Mahaveer, Jodhraj, Satish Kushwaha, Shubham alias Vikas, and Nand Kishor were arrested in connection with the incident.
