Children Pledged to Stay Away from Addictions
Udaipur, June 26
"Mobile phones are not just a habit, but a modern addiction. Its physical and mental impacts are becoming increasingly visible among children and students," said renowned de-addiction campaigner Dr. P.C. Jain during an event organized by New Vision Seva Sansthan (De-addiction Rehabilitation Centre) at Abhinav School on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse.
Addressing students as the chief guest, Dr. Jain emphasized the responsibility of parents in keeping children away from mobile addiction. He stressed that if any family member is addicted to any form of substance, children should step forward to make them understand, as their persuasion can be highly impactful.
More than 100 children participated enthusiastically in the drawing and slogan competition held as part of the program. Dr. Jain elaborated on how mobile use is becoming a dangerous form of addiction, especially in young children who face issues related to brain development, eyesight, and hearing due to early exposure. He called mobile use an emerging form of drug and held parents accountable for giving gadgets at a young age.
Arushi Jain, Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department, shared how avoiding mobile during her study years helped shape her success. She advised students to lock away their devices while studying.
Social activists Nirmal Pandit and Akash Bagdi of the Eklingnath Seva Sansthan urged children to not only stay away from drugs but also help their families break free from any such habits, as addiction often ruins multiple lives together.
Principal Kushal Rawal welcomed the guests and explained that the school uses art and creativity to instill awareness among students about the harmful effects of addiction.
Harshit Chouradiya, President of New Vision Seva Sansthan, and Krishna Vaishnav, the centre head, welcomed the guests and led the students in a pledge against drug use. Harshit shared that the institution has been running successful de-addiction campaigns for years and has rehabilitated hundreds of individuals.
Winners of the competitions were honored, and school staff including Yash Joshi, Ajay Giri Goswami, and others contributed selflessly to the success of the event.
