Emphasis on Controlling Road Accidents, Concern Over Delay in iRAD Data Upload

Udaipur, In compliance with the instructions of District Collector Namit Mehta, a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Additional District Collector (City), War Singh. Various aspects related to road safety were discussed in detail, and necessary directives were issued.

R.K. Moondra, Executive Engineer of PWD, presented the follow-up report of the previous meeting. Municipal Corporation Superintendent Engineer Mukesh Pujari briefed on the progress of the elevated road from City Station to the Collector’s residence. He informed that PCC work for pier footings from P1 to P13 has been completed, and reinforcement work on P13 is underway. After the completion of the elevated road, AI-based high-resolution cameras will be installed at Delhi Gate junction. A proposal to shift the boundary of Rana Pratapnagar Station and construct a slip lane was also discussed.

Discussion was also held on developing a pollution-free green zone in the Walled City area and on accident-prone black spots and liquor shops along national highways. The ADM directed the closure of unauthorized median cuts, effective action against wrong-side driving and overloaded vehicles, and strict challaning.

The Superintendent Engineer from Udaipur Development Authority updated on road projects. He mentioned that 35% of the work from Sisarma to NH 58 is completed, and the road from Bhuwana to Pratapnagar is expected to be finished by July 15. The four-lane project from Pratapnagar to Balicha is likely to be completed by September.

Concern Raised Over iRAD Data Upload Delay
The ADM expressed concern over the traffic police having only 128 personnel deployed out of 435 sanctioned posts. He directed better traffic management with the help of home guards and traffic volunteers. Delays in uploading accident data to the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) were also discussed. The ADM sought explanations from the National Highway Authority, CMHO, Police, and Transport Department and emphasized speeding up the data upload process.

Road Accident Statistics by Police Station Areas
A review of road accidents in the district was presented. In 2024, a total of 1210 road accidents were reported, leading to 551 deaths and 987 injuries. Up to April this year, 420 accidents resulted in 181 deaths and 451 injuries.

Surajpole: 42 accidents (3 deaths, 36 injured); up to April – 14 accidents (1 death, 12 injured)

Bhopalpura: 19 accidents (2 deaths, 25 injured); up to April – 6 accidents (0 deaths, 6 injured)

Pratapnagar: 106 accidents (44 deaths, 74 injured); up to April – 42 accidents (12 deaths, 35 injured)

Hiranmagri: 35 accidents (5 deaths, 34 injured); up to April – 12 accidents (2 deaths, 12 injured)

Savina: 66 accidents (17 deaths, 85 injured); up to April – 15 accidents (5 deaths, 17 injured)

Sukher: 111 accidents (33 deaths, 97 injured); up to April – 36 accidents (8 deaths, 58 injured)
