Udaipur: Dr. Paristish Kamdar from the Department of Psychiatry, Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur, has been honored with the prestigious “Samvedna Women Award” at the 26th Annual National Conference of the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry (IAPP), the country’s largest organization of private psychiatrists.
She received this award for a significant research paper titled “Emotional–Behavioral Problems, Abuse, Stress, and Psychosocial Determinants of Self-Esteem among Adolescents: A Cross-Sectional Study.”
The research was carried out by a joint team consisting of senior psychiatrists and mentors Dr. Jitendra Jingar, Dr. Manu Sharma, Dr. Anjali Sharma, Dr. Paristish Kamdar, Dr. Chhayank Acharya, and Dr. Aditya Borate.
The study found that factors such as physical and emotional abuse, stress, and low self-esteem among adolescents are strongly linked with their socioeconomic background, family structure, and parents’ education and income.
This research provides valuable insights for policy-making and for developing mental-health-focused curriculum modules in schools. Congratulating the team, Geetanjali Hospital Dean Dr. Sangeeta Gupta said that the award is not only a personal achievement for Dr. Paristish Kamdar, but also a matter of pride for Udaipur and the entire psychiatric fraternity of Rajasthan.
