Hindustan Zinc holds a prominent position in the mining sector not only in Rajasthan but across the country. Rawat emphasized that Hindustan Zinc’s green initiatives in Zawar will play a significant role in providing a clean and healthy environment for future generations. He praised the company’s ‘Sakhi’ program for women empowerment and the ‘Nand Ghar’ initiative, highlighting their impact on the development of surrounding panchayats under the company's CSR efforts. Urging community members to support the plantation drive, he remarked that planting trees is a noble act that leaves a lasting legacy.

As part of its commitment to sustainability and community development, Hindustan Zinc has launched a mega plantation campaign under the ‘Green Zawar’ initiative around its Zawar Mines. The goal is to plant over 50,000 saplings in villages near its operational areas within the next month. Over 8,000 saplings have already been planted, laying the foundation for a greener region.

The plantation drive began in Ranwa village of Zawar Panchayat with the participation of MP Mannalal Rawat, Rajasthan Revenue Minister Hemant Meena, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Salumber MLA Shanta Devi, Hindustan Zinc CHRO Munish Vasudeva, COO Kishore S., Zawar Mines IBU CEO Anshul Khandelwal, Zawar Mines Workers’ Union General Secretary Laluram Meena, along with senior government officials and local representatives. This collective tree-planting effort was followed by an official launch event at the Zawar Community Center.

On this occasion, Revenue Minister Hemant Meena praised the initiative, stating that the plantation effort by Hindustan Zinc contributes significantly to the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaigns. He emphasized that preserving the environment for the next generation is a collective responsibility. He also appreciated Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to nurturing the saplings until they grow and advised that native and easily sustainable plant species be given priority.

Hindustan Zinc CHRO Munish Vasudeva stated that the company continues to contribute to environmental protection by increasing plantation efforts every year. He noted that tree plantation is not merely about planting saplings but about shaping the future, and called for a united resolve toward a better tomorrow.

The extensive drive includes the planting of medicinal plants, fruit-bearing trees, and native species chosen for biodiversity restoration and long-term ecological benefits. On this occasion, saplings were distributed to members of the Sakhi program and the Jawarmata Agro Farmer Producer Company. The event began with a welcome address by COO Kishore S. and concluded with a vote of thanks by IBU CEO Anshul Khandelwal.

Dignitaries present at the event included Pushkar Teli and sarpanches of Javar, Mewatlai, Singhatawada, and Oda villages. Also present were Head of Environment Hitesh Bhupatavat, Head of HR Deepak Ghagreja, Cluster Head Radharam, Mahendra Suthar, Head of Finance Raghav Pancholi, Head of CSR Vivek Singh, Head of Admin Gajanan Gupta, and Head of Civil Rakesh Yadav, along with several respected villagers, trainees of Zinc Football Academy, Sakhi women, farmers from Samadhan, and other guests.

The Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), operated with support from Hindustan Zinc, currently includes over 1,750 farmer-shareholders. This ensures that the initiative not only contributes to the environment but also enhances income opportunities for local farmers.

Employees, community members, business partners, and local stakeholders enthusiastically participated in the plantation activities, reflecting a strong sense of collective ownership and shared responsibility toward environmental protection. Through this initiative, Hindustan Zinc continues to reinforce its vision of environmental stewardship, inclusive community engagement, and sustainable development.
