Udaipur: The Green People Society, actively working for bird and environmental conservation in South Rajasthan, along with the Lake Conservation Committee of Lake City Udaipur, has been honoured at the national level for their remarkable contributions in promoting environmental awareness through public participation.
In a grand ceremony organized by the Nagrik Sansthan at the India International Auditorium, New Delhi, representatives from ten states participated. The honour was received on behalf of the Green People Society by President Rahul Bhatnagar and Secretary Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, while Tej Shankar Paliwal and Kushal Rawal accepted it on behalf of the Lake Conservation Committee.
President Rahul Bhatnagar informed that Nagrik Sansthan, headquartered in Dehradun, conducted a detailed study last year on the role of common citizens and local NGOs in smaller cities, focusing particularly on Udaipur (Rajasthan) and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu). The findings of this study were presented at the two-day special conference held at the India International Auditorium, where the efforts of these institutions were highly appreciated.
Recognizing their dedicated role in conserving Udaipur’s lakes and natural environment, both organizations were honoured for their exemplary work towards sustainable ecological development.
