Kota, The nationwide Eye Donation Fortnight is being observed from August 25 to September 8 with great enthusiasm across India. Shine India Foundation, which has been working tirelessly for the past 14 years to spread awareness about eye donation in the Hadoti region, continued its mission with a special initiative.
On Monday, the demise of Smt. Geeta Devi, mother of Bharat Bhushan and Mahesh Babu Jain, was mourned by the family. Respecting the wishes of the bereaved family, Shine India Foundation facilitated the noble act of eye donation, ensuring that her vision lives on through others.
Following the procedure, Dr. Kulwant Gaur explained to the family members in detail the process of eye donation, common misconceptions, and its immense significance. He further suggested that organizing an awareness stall during the condolence meeting would not only honor the late Geeta Devi but also inspire others to pledge for eye donation.
Accepting this suggestion, the family allowed a pledge counter to be set up during the condolence gathering. More than 300 attendees received information about the noble cause, while over 200 individuals sought detailed guidance. In a heartfelt tribute, 30 persons, including family members Shilpi, Kavita, Lalit Goyal, Bharat Jain, Kamlesh Jain, Manish Todi, Dr. Harish Jain, Pratibha Jain, and Qayuum Mansoori, filled the eye donation pledge forms.
At the end of the meeting, Shine India Foundation presented certificates of appreciation to the bereaved family members, recognizing their contribution to creating awareness and setting an example in society.
