Udaipur. Rajasthan’s growing achievements in the Olympic sport of lacrosse received a significant boost as Governor Shri Hari Babu Kambhampati approved financial assistance of ₹10.20 lakh from his discretionary fund. The support has been granted to facilitate the participation of 28 male and female players in the 2nd Federation Cup, scheduled to be held in Katra from 5 to 7 December.
Rajasthan’s lacrosse teams made headlines by winning both the men’s and women’s titles in the previous Federation Cup, bringing pride to the state. Encouraging the players to repeat their success and excel in upcoming national and international events, the Governor extended his best wishes.
According to Governor’s Secretary Dr. Prithvi, this financial support will not only motivate the athletes but also strengthen their prospects of performing well at the national level and eventually representing India at the Olympic stage. It is notable that Governor Shri Bawde had earlier interacted with the players to encourage them and had previously allocated ₹10 lakh from his discretionary fund for the 2025-26 National Championships. In that event, the Rajasthan team showcased exceptional performance, winning medals in all six categories—five gold and one bronze. Based on their achievements, nine women and five men from Rajasthan were selected for the Indian team for the Asian Games.
Udaipur Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kewalramani, a leading supporter of lacrosse in the tribal region, described this assistance as a milestone for tribal athletes of the Udaipur division. She said the support will further strengthen Rajasthan’s contribution toward achieving the objectives of the Honourable Prime Minister’s ambitious ‘Lakshya Olympic’ mission. Local players, coaches, and the Rajasthan Lacrosse Association expressed their gratitude to Governor Shri Bagde for the continued encouragement.
