SPSU at IIT Hyderabad: A Cultural Exchange through SPIC MACAY's 10th Global Convention

The 10th International Convention of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) took place at IIT Hyderabad, from May 26 to June 1, 2025. A team of five talented students from Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU) represented the university at the convention, led by Lt. (Dr.) D S Chouhan, Deputy Dean (Student Welfare), who also serves as the SPIC MACAY Coordinator at SPSU.


 

The SPSU team consisted of five multi-talented students who showcased their skills and passion on the global stage. The participants were:

Lt. (Dr.) D S Chouhan – Miniaturist & Mentor

Kailash Chandra Jat (an incredible Gymnast)

R. Falguni (an enchanting Classical Dancer)

Nagareddy Rishitha (an enchanting Classical Dancer)

C Abhinav Siddartha (a Canvas Painter)

Sharmila Sree Vennela.Ch (a captivating Playback Singer)

 

During the convention, a diverse range of art forms were explored through intensives and workshops. Participants had the opportunity to engage with Mata ni Pachedi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Western Classical Music, Tarkashi Art, Violin, Pandvani, Gurbani, Hatha Yoga, Mohiniattam, Odissi, Pung Cholom, Bagh Printing, Carnatic Vocal, Sattriya, Koodiyattam, Natural Dye Block Printing, Meditation, Dhrupad, Hindustani Vocal, Puppetry, Miniature Painting, and Kuchipudi.

 

With around 1600 participants from India and abroad, the convention provided a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and artistic exploration. The SPSU team actively participated in various intensives and workshops like Mughal Miniature Painting, Kathak etc. contributing to the rich tapestry of the event.
