Enthusiasm Marks Swimming Competition on National Unity Day

Udaipur. — To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a district-level swimming competition was organized on Friday evening at 3:00 PM under the One District One Sport and Panch Gaurav Yojana. The event was jointly conducted by the District Administration, NCC, and Regional Sports Training Centre at Maharana Pratap Khelgaon, Udaipur.

District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal informed that swimmers from various age categories participated in the event. Competitions were held in 50, 100, and 200 meters freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly categories. Swimmers from across the city, along with NCC cadets, displayed their skills and competitive spirit.

In the results, Himash Malviya won first place in the under-11 boys’ 50m freestyle, followed by Tanush Saxena and Aryan. Himash also secured first position in the 50m backstroke, while Tanush topped the 50m breaststroke. Among girls under 11, Nitya Sharma won the 50m freestyle, Isha Kumawat came second, and Nandika Soni third. Dhruvi Jain won both the 50m breaststroke and butterfly events.

The youngest participants, five-year-olds Abhijeet Paliwal and Krishik, won gold medals in their categories. In the under-14 group, Maulik and Rinkle won first place in the 50m freestyle, followed by Hadyash, Lakshita, Lakshyaraj, and Yogeshwari. In other events, Maulik and Nandini won the 100m freestyle, Hadyash and Rinkle topped the 50m backstroke, while Gaurang and Alia emerged winners in the 50m breaststroke. Rihan and Peehul won the 50m butterfly, and Vihaan and Peehul excelled in the 100m butterfly.

In the 17-year category, Govind and Saanvi won the 50m freestyle, followed by Suhana and Kushagra. Niv topped the 50m backstroke, with Veer and Yudhveer close behind. Saanvi also secured first position in the 100m freestyle, while Vidhi Sanathya won both 50m and 100m breaststroke events. Vidhans Sanathya dominated the 50m and 100m butterfly events.

In the 19-year category, Shailendra and Samriddhi won the 50m freestyle, while Mehul finished third. In the 100m freestyle, Jitendra and Hitesh secured the top spots, and Harsh Ved won the 50m backstroke.

A cultural program was also held at the venue to celebrate Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. The event was graced by Udaipur IG Gaurav Srivastava and Lieutenant Colonel Manmohan Singh Rawat. Winners were awarded medals by the guests, while NCC cadets who helped organize the event were honored. The celebration also included street plays, dance performances, debates, and traditional Rajasthani cultural presentations.
