Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur, organized the Smart India Hackathon 2024 Prelims on 10th September under the leadership of the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Prithvi Yadav. In the inaugural address, Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of teamwork, perseverance, creative problem-solving and encouraged students to enhance their skills and contribute to the society. The nationwide Smart India Hackathon (SIH), organized by the Ministry of Education and AICTE, engages students in solving real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking and innovation to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application. It is noteworthy that SPSU student team recently won a cash prize of Rs. One Lakh at the SIH Grand Finale for addressing a problem statement posed by the Ministry of Defence.
A total of 25 teams comprising 150 students participated, tackling software and hardware problem statements posed by various ministries, including Defence, Electronics, Agriculture, Law, Power, and Railways. Jury members—Mr. Punit Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, Udaipur, Government of Rajasthan, Dr. Akash Talwariya, Subject Matter Expert, Larsen & Toubro and Er. Deepak Kumar, Subject Expert, Xebia—evaluated the participating teams and provided valuable suggestions. The Smart India Hackathon 2024 Prelims at SPSU received the guidance Prof. Prasun Chakrabarti (Dean) and Prof. Alok Kumar (Deputy Dean) and was coordinated by Er. Harsh Bansal, Assistant Professor and SIH SPOC. Faculty mentors played a key role in guiding students to develop innovative solutions. The event showcased the students' technical expertise and problem-solving abilities and reflected the University’s commitment to fostering innovation, practical learning and societal contribution.
