Vigyan Samiti Udaipur celebrated its 68th Foundation Day on Thursday at the Madame Curie Auditorium, marking another milestone in its long-standing journey of promoting scientific awareness, scientific temper, women’s empowerment and experiential education. Rajasthan Governor Gulab Chand Kataria was the chief guest, while Dr. Parmendra Dashora, Vice Chancellor of Mangalayatan University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, presided over the ceremony. Vigyan Samiti President Dr. Mahip Bhatnagar welcomed the guests and highlighted the organisation’s continuing commitment to social and educational development. Founder and Kulpramukh Dr. Kundanlal Kothari presented an overview of Vigyan Samiti’s 67-year journey, highlighting its achievements, initiatives and contribution to the promotion of science in society. Addressing the gathering, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria described Vigyan Samiti as a distinguished institution working for social progress through scientific thinking. He appreciated its initiatives to popularise science, promote women’s empowerment and extend science education to rural communities. He also congratulated the newly appointed executive committee for the next two years and assured his support for its initiatives. Presiding over the ceremony, Dr. Parmendra Dashora praised Vigyan Samiti for recognising excellence and encouraging a culture of achievement in society. He appreciated its efforts to promote scientific thinking and bring the city’s scientific community together. Dr. Dashora emphasised that the responsibility of shaping the next generation rests on society as a whole. He said that India can realise its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 only by nurturing a scientifically minded and culturally rooted Gen Z and Gen Alpha generation. The new executive committee for the upcoming two-year term was also announced. Governor Kataria felicitated newly elected President Dr. K.L. Totawat with a traditional uparna. New life members and executive committee members were welcomed with tilak and uparna. A newly prepared Vigyan Samiti Introduction Booklet was also released by Governor Kataria and Dr. Parmendra Dashora. Agrawal Distinguished Service Institution Award: Rajasthan Mahila Vidyalaya Dr. Yashwant Kothari Outstanding Farmer Award: Premchand Kapaya Deputy Commandant Tarun Gupta Meritorious Student Award: Hemlata Dangi Justice Kalpana Bhatnagar Purusharth Award: Savita Devi Mahadevi Verma Emerging Writer Award: Advika Sanchihar All awardees were felicitated with a shawl, uparna, memento, citation and cash prize. The programme was conducted by Dr. K.P. Talesara and Dr. R.K. Garg, while Munish Goyal proposed the vote of thanks. The 68th Foundation Day celebration reflected Vigyan Samiti’s enduring commitment to building a society where scientific thinking, education, creativity and cultural values move together towards the vision of a developed India by 2047.
