Udaipur, The 12th annual conference of the Association of Physiologists of India (ASSOPI), ASSOPICON 2026, concluded successfully at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, Geetanjali University, Udaipur, on Friday. The four-day national conference, held from October 6 to 9, brought together eminent physiologists, medical educators, researchers, clinicians and postgraduate students from across the country to deliberate on emerging research, innovations in medical education and advances in healthcare.
The conference was organised by the Department of Physiology at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital in collaboration with the Association of Physiologists of Rajasthan. The event was held under the leadership of organising chairperson Dr Manjinder Kaur and organising secretary Dr Naren Kurmi.
The central theme of the conference was “Physiology Across the Spectrum: Molecules, Medicine and Mind-Body Health,” highlighting the growing significance of physiology in understanding human health, strengthening medical education and advancing modern healthcare practices.
The inaugural ceremony, held on October 7, was attended by J. P. Agarwal, Chairman of the Geetanjali Group, as the chief guest. Ankit Agarwal, Executive Director of the Geetanjali Group; Dr R. K. Vyas, President of Geetanjali University; Dr Sangeeta Gupta, Dean of Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital; and special guest Dr Dinesh Badyal were among those present, along with national office-bearers of ASSOPI and other distinguished guests.
The scientific programme featured 10 pre-conference workshops and nine Cafe Corners, offering participants practical exposure to research methodology, exercise physiology, lifestyle medicine, artificial intelligence, autonomic function testing, yoga and meditation.
Expert-led scientific sessions covered a wide range of subjects, including medical education, neurophysiology, sleep science, high-altitude physiology, cardiovascular and respiratory functions, and emerging diagnostic techniques. The discussions provided a platform for sharing research findings, exchanging academic perspectives and exploring new approaches to physiology and clinical practice.
Special emphasis was placed on yoga, meditation and holistic mind-body health. Research paper presentations, poster competitions, faculty award papers and a postgraduate quiz encouraged young researchers and students to showcase their academic capabilities and scientific understanding.
A cultural evening and gala dinner were also organised at Vijaygarh Palace, Tiger Hills, providing an opportunity for participants to interact and strengthen professional and academic ties.
At the valedictory ceremony on October 9, winners of the research paper, poster and quiz competitions were felicitated. Dr Manjinder Kaur expressed gratitude to the invited experts, delegates, ASSOPI office-bearers, organising team, volunteers and support staff for their contributions to the successful conduct of the conference.
ASSOPICON 2026 concluded with a renewed focus on scientific research, innovative approaches to medical education and the application of physiological sciences in modern healthcare. The conference also reinforced the importance of national-level academic collaboration in advancing physiology and improving healthcare practices.
