Udaipur: Preparations for the 2026 urban local body elections have intensified, with the district administration focusing on ensuring free, fair and transparent polling. Under the direction of District Election Officer and Collector Gaurav Agrawal, training for First Polling Officers was conducted Sunday at various halls of the Udaipur Municipal Corporation.
The training covered key aspects of the electoral process, including arrangements before and during polling, maintenance of voting secrecy, prescribed procedures, and record-keeping and communication as per State Election Commission guidelines.
Agrawal inspected the training venues and interacted with the participating officers. He urged them to take the training seriously and clarify any doubts without hesitation. Stressing teamwork and coordination, he said polling officers play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and transparent elections.
“Maintaining Udaipur’s tradition of free, fair and transparent elections in the upcoming urban local body and panchayat elections is a collective responsibility,” Agrawal said.
Officials also received theoretical and practical training in EVM operations. Master trainers explained machine functions, polling procedures and essential precautions, while addressing participants’ queries.
Additional District Election Officer and ADM Administration Deependra Singh Rathore, Training Cell In-charge Kirti Rathore and Assistant In-charge Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Chaubisa were among those present.
Training for Polling Officers (PROs) is scheduled for Monday, August 31.
