Udaipur: The spirit of patriotism and pride in India’s cultural heritage came alive in Udaipur as young voices resonated with Sanskrit songs such as ‘Jayatu Janani Janmabhoomi Bharatam’ and ‘Bharatam Bhavatu Bharatam’. The melodious performances blended the beauty of the Sanskrit language with a deep sense of devotion to the motherland.

The occasion was the Sanskrit Group Song Competition organised by Sanskrit Bharati Udaipur as part of Sanskrit Week celebrations on Tuesday at Alok Senior Secondary School, Hiran Magri Sector 11.

Programme Coordinator Shreyansh Kansara said students from various schools across Udaipur participated in the competition and presented Sanskrit songs in harmonious group performances. Through their presentations, the students expressed patriotism, dedication to the motherland, courage and pride in India’s rich cultural heritage.

The performances featured Sanskrit compositions including ‘Tava Bhumau Syad Balidanam Vikaseyamiva Kusumam Ramyam’, ‘Bharatam Bharatam Bhavatu Bharatam’, ‘Jayatu Janani Janmabhoomi Bharatam’, ‘Sura Vayam Dheera Vayam’ and ‘Surasa Subodha Vishvamanogya Lalitarya Ramaniya’. The performances reflected a blend of musical harmony, rhythm, emotional expression and stage presentation.

The programme commenced in the presence of Rajasthan Patrika Udaipur Editor Rajiv Jain and Alok Sansthan Director Dr. Pradeep Kumawat. Also present were Sanskrit Bharati Speech Coordinator and Alok Principal Shashank Tank, Prant Sampark Pramukh Dr. Yagya Ameta, academicians, members of the jury, Sanskrit enthusiasts, teachers and members of the school community.

Sanskrit: Foundation of India’s Knowledge Tradition, Says Jain

Chief Guest Rajiv Jain highlighted the scientific character, rich vocabulary and significance of Sanskrit in India’s knowledge tradition. He said Sanskrit is not merely a language of the past but an important foundation of India’s cultural consciousness and intellectual heritage.

Jain said the growing interest in Sanskrit among students was a positive indication of cultural awareness. He added that connecting the younger generation with Sanskrit also provides an opportunity to connect them with India’s roots and its long-standing knowledge traditions.

Alok Celebrates Sanskrit Day Every Thursday: Dr. Kumawat

Dr. Pradeep Kumawat said Alok Sansthan’s initiative to observe every Thursday as ‘Sanskrit Day’ reflects its commitment to promoting the language. He said that at a time when the CBSE school system has become increasingly prominent, initiatives aimed at promoting Sanskrit at the school level can inspire both students and other educational institutions.

Expert Jury Evaluates Performances

The jury comprised Vimal Arya, M.A. in Music, Stage Arts Head, Sanskar Bharati and Department of Music, Meera Girls College, Udaipur, and Dr. Durga Kumawat, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit, Vidya Bhawan Gandhi Institute of Education Studies, Badgaon, Udaipur.

The participants were evaluated on parameters including vocal harmony, rhythm, emotional expression, group coordination and stage presentation.

Sanskrit Bharati representatives and volunteers, including Dr. Yagya Ameta, Narendra Sharma, Dushyant Nagda, Chainshankar Dashora, Satyapriya, Dr. Renu Paliwal, Meenakshi Dwivedi, Sunita Kanwar and Gaurav Sahu, among others, were present at the event.

Teachers of the host school and Sanskrit Bharati volunteers coordinated the arrangements and ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
