Udaipur, On the occasion of World Disability Day, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organized an award ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The President, Mrs. Dropadi Murmu, awarded the National Award in the category of 'Best Individual' for outstanding contributions in the field of empowerment of people with disabilities to Mr. Prashant Agarwal, the Chairman of Narayan Seva Sansthan. The event was presided over by Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. Also present were Ramdas Athawale, the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhaumik, and A. Narayanaswamy.
The recognition bestowed upon Agarwal was in acknowledgment of his unparalleled selfless services for the welfare of people with disabilities. Prashant Agarwal has been a trailblazer in bringing individuals with disabilities into the mainstream society. He has played a leading role in establishing residential schools, vocational training centers, and distribution of assistive devices for people with disabilities. During the ceremony, more than 30 awards were presented in various categories, including recognition for Dr. Apte Subhash for Best Professional in the field of Rehabilitation, Amazon India for Best Employer of People with Disabilities, and the Social Justice and Empowerment Directorate of Madhya Pradesh for effective implementation of the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan.
President Dropadi Murmu personally handed over the award and certificate to Prashant Agarwal. The audience in the auditorium expressed their joy through applause as the President conferred the honor. During the ceremony, awards were presented in more than 30 categories, highlighting various contributions to the empowerment of individuals with disabilities. In his acceptance speech, Prashant Agarwal expressed gratitude and dedicated the award to all the individuals with disabilities who have found happiness and benefit through the services provided by Narayan Seva Sansthan.
Narayan Seva Sansthan, headquartered in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has been serving in the fields of disability and humanity since 1985. Prashant Agarwal, born on September 21, 1973, in Udaipur, has been a leader in providing successful surgeries for over 4,45,000 individuals with disabilities. He has also been instrumental in providing artificial limbs to more than 40,000 individuals who lost their limbs in accidents. Under his leadership, the organization has changed the lives of nearly 10,000 people through various empowerment initiatives, including computer training, mobile repair training, and sewing training. The institution has facilitated the mass marriage of over 2,300 couples and has been actively involved in organizing various sports championships for people with disabilities.
The National Award is a testament to Prashant Agarwal's dedication and humility in serving the divyang brothers and sisters, transforming their lives positively. His efforts have set an inspiring benchmark in the field of empowering people with disabilities.
