Bhilwara: Following the vision of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan government is committed to providing every rural family with adequate, safe, and potable water through tap connections. Under the leadership of District Collector Namit Mehta, Bhilwara district has achieved a historic milestone in the Jal Jeevan Mission.
**Mandal Block Achieves 100% Coverage in Jal Jeevan Mission**
District Collector Namit Mehta announced that Mandal Block in Bhilwara has become the first block in the state to achieve 100% household water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission. A total of 29,524 homes in the block now receive clean drinking water through functional household tap connections, marking a significant accomplishment.
**Campaign Implementation**
Siddharth Tak, Executive Engineer of the Project Division Mandal, detailed the campaign's progress. The project received administrative approval for the "Mandal-Kareda Phase II Package" worth Rs. 260 crore in February 2021, with technical approval for Rs. 158.22 crore in July 2021. The project included laying 345 kilometers of pipeline, constructing three pump houses, and 24 elevated water tanks. By July 12, 2024, all 29,524 homes in Mandal Block had functional tap connections, ensuring clean drinking water availability.
Rajeev Sugotra, Superintendent Engineer of Project Division II, credited the continuous monitoring and guidance from District Collector Namit Mehta for achieving this milestone. The PHED team ensured timely completion and maintained water quality, aligning with the state government’s vision.
**Gratitude from Villagers**
Devi Lal Jat, Sarpanch of Lirdiya village, expressed gratitude, highlighting that villagers previously relied on public stand posts or wells for water. Now, they enjoy the convenience of clean drinking water from household taps.
Local resident Pooja Bhambi shared that women used to carry water from several kilometers away, but now they are relieved thanks to the household tap connections provided under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Launched on August 15, 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide every rural household with a functional tap connection, ensuring 55 liters of water per person per day. The mission focuses on delivering quality water supply consistently, impacting society by relieving women and young girls from the burden of fetching water, allowing them to engage in income-generating activities, learn new skills, and support their children's education.
