Udaipur Dance Festival Season 3 Celebrated with Enthusiasm

Draupadi washed her hair with Dushasana’s blood; chants of Jai Shri Ram echoed with Kathak Hanuman Chalisa

 

Udaipur:On the occasion of International Dance Day, the vibrant Udaipur Dance Festival Season 3 was organized at the Atal Auditorium, Hiran Magri Sector 4, by M Square Production and Kathak Ashram Udaipur, with special support from Badala Classes, Anushka Academy NIFD, and Shri Arihant Minerals.

Festival Coordinator Mukesh Madhwani informed that the event witnessed over 70 performances from 9 AM till afternoon. More than 200 participants showcased their skills across various dance forms, including Rajasthani, Punjabi, Classical, Semi-Classical, and Western, mesmerizing the audience. The Atal Auditorium resounded with applause, celebrating the enthusiastic performances.

Festival Convenor and Director of Kathak Ashram, Dr. Chandrakala Chaudhary, shared that the performances were evaluated by judges Akanksha Tiwari, Gaurav Maharshi, and Sejal Suhalka. Based on their assessment, awards were presented to outstanding performers by special guests Rahul Badala, Prachi Mehta, Rajeev Surana, Bharat Sharma, Balram Rajawat, and Dilip Jain.

The evening session infused a distinct flavor into the festival with classical dance performances. Highlights included a dramatic portrayal of Draupadi washing her hair with Dushasana’s blood from the Mahabharata, a powerful Kathak recital of Hanuman Chalisa filling the hall with chants of "Jai Shri Ram," a delightful Rajasthani dance by a 56-year-old grandfather with his 7-year-old granddaughter, a Bharatanatyam duet by a mother-daughter duo from Andhra Pradesh, and an energetic Ghost dance, among many other mesmerizing performances.
