On World Environment Day, "Hara-Bhara Group Udaipur" Pledges for a Clean and Green City
Udaipur | On the occasion of **World Environment Day**, *"Hara-Bhara Group"* organized an inspiring seminar and awareness program to promote environmental conservation. With the theme **"Clean & Green Udaipur – Our Commitment, Our Responsibility,"** participants were urged to take concrete steps toward protecting nature.
The event began with a tour of **Dr. Rajshree Gandhi’s rooftop garden**, developed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Spread across three floors, this garden is a vibrant example of eco-conscious living, filled with a variety of plants offering natural, spiritual, and emotional connection. Dr. Gandhi explained sustainable practices like **rooftop gardening**, **organic composting**, and **zero-waste kitchens**, encouraging everyone to embrace an organic lifestyle.
A special seminar focused on making Udaipur **plastic and polythene-free** was also held. Group President **Anil Gupta** and Founder **Sanjay Bajaj** shared an innovative idea to collect household plastic waste by stuffing it into plastic bottles, symbolizing awareness. Inspired by Indore’s success, the group aims to elevate Udaipur to the top ranks of clean cities.
Environmental expert **Dr. M.G. Varshney** shared that over **5,000 trees** planted under his guidance are now flourishing and purifying the atmosphere. He emphasized that every individual should plant at least **five trees** in their lifetime.
Group Secretary **Lokesh Parakh** announced plans to officially register the group and launch an **annual environmental mission** under the guidance of the District Collector. He stressed promoting **solar cooking** in every household as a new environmental initiative.
National award recipients **Dr. Narendran** and **Mr. Deepak Srivastava** highlighted the health hazards posed by **microplastics** and strongly advocated for a **plastic-free lifestyle**.
Distinguished attendees included **M.S. Verma, Manoj Rajpurohit, Pooja Jha, Deepak Srivastava, Chandrakala Arya, and Kartikeya**, among other environmental enthusiasts. Their presence added value to the event and reinforced a collective spirit of dedication toward the environment.
Among the group’s **510 members**, **30 active office-bearers** participated prominently. Together, they pledged to support:
* **Massive tree plantation drives**
* **Adoption of solar energy**
* **Home gardening**
* **A plastic-free lifestyle**
At the conclusion of the program, **Dr. Rajshree Gandhi and Mr. S. Verma** distributed plant saplings to attendees as a green token of commitment.
This event not only raised awareness about environmental protection but also energized Udaipur’s journey toward becoming a **cleaner, greener, and more sustainable city**.
