###Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign: Media Team Visits Tribal Jhadol Area to Witness Water Conservation Efforts

Udaipur, Under the "Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign," a team of media personnel visited the remote tribal area of Jhadol in Udaipur district on Friday to observe significant water conservation initiatives undertaken by the state government. The delegation inspected various water conservation structures developed by the Forest and Water Conservation Departments and lauded the government’s visionary efforts.

Visit to Palia Kheda Nursery; Target to Plant 3.8 Million Saplings in the District

Starting from the Chetak Circle Information Center, the media team reached the Palia Kheda Nursery in Jhadol, where Range Officer Hori Ram Saini briefed them about the diverse plant species being cultivated, the vermicompost unit, and polyhouse facilities. Assistant Conservator of Forests Ghanshyam Kumawat shared that under the "Hariyalo Rajasthan" campaign, around 170,000 trees are planned to be planted in Jhadol during this monsoon, with an overall district target of 3.8 million saplings to bolster environmental conservation.

Groundwater Recharge Structures: 8,000 Contour Trenches and Minor Percolation Tanks

The delegation then visited Goran village to inspect the 8,000 contour trenches (CCT) and minor percolation tanks (MPT) constructed for groundwater recharge. Departmental officers explained the recharging process, and media personnel appreciated the initiative as a forward-thinking step toward groundwater conservation.

Inspection of Anicuts and Grazing Land Development; Media Impressed by Increased Greenery

The team also examined anicuts built in Selana Gram Panchayat and grazing land development in Adol village. The visible increase in greenery and soil fertility impressed the visitors. Executive Engineer Nitin Surana provided detailed insights into how these efforts aid rainwater harvesting, groundwater level improvement, and enhanced agricultural productivity.

Multi-Departmental Involvement in the Campaign

District Collector Namit Mehta highlighted the active participation of multiple government departments in the campaign, including Forest, Water Resources, Rajivika, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Education, Local Bodies, Water Harvesting, and Groundwater Departments.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme for 2023-24 and 2024-25, 4,153 water conservation, augmentation, and afforestation projects are set for inauguration.

Currently, 1,375 ongoing water conservation projects and 560 afforestation activities are expected to be completed by June.

So far, 57,800 small check dams (khaddas) have been dug, and efforts toward the target of 11.62 million saplings are progressing rapidly.

Additionally, the first phase of the Chief Minister’s Jal Swavalamban Scheme 2.0 has seen 3,561 completed projects, and financial approval has been granted for 368 projects in the second phase. The Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme 2.0 will soon launch a new project in Gogunda.
