Excise Department Cracks Down on Illegal Liquor Network

Udaipur,  Under the direction of Excise Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate, a major action has been taken by the Excise Preventive Team as part of a state-wide special drive to curb the production, storage, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor. Following the seizure of illegal liquor with fake holograms and labels at Hotel Marriott in Udaipur, further investigation and actions have intensified.

In a significant operation on University Road and Kodiaat area of Udaipur, the Excise Preventive Team recovered 355 bottles of illegal foreign liquor bearing counterfeit holograms and labels. Three individuals were arrested in this raid. The estimated value of the seized liquor is ₹15 lakh. Mastermind Deepak Suhalka has been named in the case and is currently being tracked by authorities.

Additional Excise Commissioner Pradeep Singh Sangawat informed that acting on reliable intelligence, a team under the supervision of O.P. Jain, Deputy Commissioner Pradyumna Singh Chundawat, conducted a midnight raid at a house on University Road. A total of 276 bottles of expensive foreign liquor were recovered from the premises and a vehicle. One individual was arrested on the spot, while cases have been registered against two others.

In a separate operation in the Kodiaat area, two accused were arrested while transporting 79 bottles of foreign liquor in two autos. These too had counterfeit stickers and labels used to legitimize the banned liquor.

The arrested individuals were found supplying this counterfeit-labeled foreign liquor to high-end hotels and other establishments. Efforts are ongoing to dismantle this network and apprehend other culprits, including the named mastermind Deepak Suhalka.

The excise officials involved in the operations included Inspectors Murlidhar Sauda, Shakuntala Jain, Anil Kumar, and Prabhulal Guard, who played a crucial role.

The Excise Department continues its crackdown across the state to minimize revenue losses and ensure the prohibition of illicit liquor. It is noteworthy that in the recent Marriott case, Indian-made foreign liquor from Haryana was found being served after relabeling with cheap bottle stickers, resulting in significant revenue loss and public health risks.
