Udaipur, On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, a special dialogue was organized at the Vivekanand Auditorium of Gayatri Seva Sansthan, Hiran Magri Sector-6, by the Rajasthan Child Advisory Group (R.KAG) to discuss effective prevention of child labour. The event saw participation from child rights experts across the state.
Speaking as the guest speaker, Himali Leuva, Child Protection Officer at UNICEF Rajasthan, emphasized that beyond rescuing child labourers, a robust and phased rehabilitation process is vital. “Only through planned rehabilitation can justice be served to affected children and stringent action taken against the guilty. The efforts by R.KAG to bring together various organizations and provide policy-level recommendations are commendable,” she said.
Dr. Shailendra Pandya, child rights expert and former member of the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, shed light on trafficking incidents in tribal regions. He also shared insights on model FIR procedures and government schemes available for child welfare.
Chairing the meeting, R.KAG President and former Director of Rajasthan SCERT, Dr. Sharad Chandra Purohit, stressed that prevention of child labour requires active participation not only from government and NGOs but also from the public. He extended gratitude to both local and national experts for their presence and contributions.
Senior R.KAG member and social worker Chandragupt Singh Chauhan discussed innovative rehabilitation initiatives undertaken by the Samidha Sansthan and urged the state government to consider R.KAG's suggestions to strengthen child labour prevention mechanisms.
Among the prominent participants were UNICEF Advisor Sindhu Bindujit, Dr. Ajit Joshi, advocate John James from international agency IJM, Divisional Program Officer Sukhvinder, Ravi Baghel from Srishti Seva Samiti, social worker Dr. Rajshree Gandhi, and representatives from Bharat Vikas Parishad, Foster Care Society, and Gayatri Seva Sansthan, along with several R.KAG members.
