Under the leadership of District Collector Namit Mehta, the campaign "Mera Udaipur – Meri Jimmedari" is set to launch with the goal of ensuring visible cleanliness across Udaipur. The initiative aims to improve the city’s ranking in national cleanliness surveys and reinforce its identity as a clean, tourist-friendly destination.
In a meeting held at the District Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday, officials from the Municipal Corporation and various departments gathered to discuss the plan. Collector Mehta emphasized that while Udaipur is globally renowned for its tourism, there remains ample scope to improve its cleanliness. With collective effort, he stated, the city could achieve the top spot in Swachh Survekshan rankings.
He stressed that visible cleanliness and community participation would be the core focus of the campaign, urging the involvement of social and commercial organizations, NGOs, and cleanliness-conscious citizens.
The campaign will run for six weeks and will cover all areas under the Udaipur Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction. The city will be divided into ten sectors, each monitored by a senior officer and a health inspector. Key activities will include sweeping, door-to-door garbage collection, cleaning of parks, commercial zones, tourist spots, vacant plots, roadside beautification through wall paintings, and maintenance of stepwells.
To ensure transparency and accountability, continuous monitoring will be carried out using the Udaipur Municipal Corporation’s mobile application. Stakeholders such as UDA, Smart City team, and SDMs will be involved in daily inspections, with feedback loops to assess progress.
During the meeting, suggestions were taken from government officials as well as representatives from NGOs and civil society groups. The campaign is envisioned as a mass movement, where citizens play a proactive role in maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of Udaipur.
