Udaipur, A two-day international seminar on Innovation in Chemistry: Green Synthesis and Drug Design began on Monday at the IT Auditorium, Pratapnagar, under the joint aegis of the Department of Chemistry, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University and the Faculty of Science, Bhupal Nobles University.
The inaugural session was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Bhupal Nobles’ Minister Prof. Mahendra Singh Agaria, Managing Director Dr. Mohabbat Singh Rupakhedi, Joint Minister Rajendra Singh Tana, former Director of Rotam Agrochemical Hong Kong Dr. Satish Chandra Tiwari, and Dean Prof. Renu Rathore, who offered floral tributes to Maa Saraswati and lit the ceremonial lamp.
Prof. Renu Rathore welcomed the guests and outlined the seminar’s objectives.
In his keynote address, Prof. Sarangdevot emphasized that the chemical knowledge found in ancient Indian texts essentially forms the basis of modern green chemistry, which focuses on environmental sustainability. He noted that aligning with Vedic and Rishi traditions, one could establish a spiritual connection with nature and thus avoid the harmful effects of chemical usage on the environment. He further highlighted the role of bioenergy and nature-based agricultural innovations in reducing energy consumption and maintaining ecological balance.
Keynote speaker Dr. Tiwari focused on the potential of Rajasthan’s mineral resources in the development of pharmaceutical innovations, urging for environment-friendly research. Prof. Sodani stressed the importance of indigenous knowledge systems and the use of the mother tongue in scientific discourse. Chancellor B.L. Gurjar underlined the need to integrate traditional wisdom into modern scientific research.
The seminar saw active participation from eminent scholars including Dr. Yuvraj Singh Rathore, Naval Singh Jude, Prof. Prem Singh Rawlot, Dr. Girdharpal Singh, Prof. Shiv Singh Dulawat, Dr. Sapna Shrimali, Dr. Mangal Shri Dulawat, Dr. Bhavesh Joshi, Dr. Uttam Sharma, Dr. Yogita Shrimali, Dr. Pooja Joshi, Dr. Lokesh Suthar, Dr. Monika, Dr. Neetu, Dr. Himani Verma, Dr. Kirtanpal Singh, Lalima Sharma, Shaktika Chaudhary, along with faculty members, students, and researchers from the concerned departments.
