Udaipur, A poetic gathering was organized by Tanima Sahityik Sansthan in honour of the globally renowned poet, litterateur, and former IAS officer Manoj Sharma, who authored the celebrated poem “Meri Jheel” dedicated to Udaipur’s world-famous Fatehsagar Lake. Esteemed poets and literary figures participated in the event. The session was presided over by Shri Shyam Rawat, while Smt. Shakuntala Sarupriya conducted the programme.
Shri Manoj Sharma recited several of his acclaimed poems, including “Sainik Shaheed Ki Maa Ka Sandesh” and “Chahe Stadium Mein Taliyaan Baje Ya Na Baje”. His poem “Umra Se Agrah” left a deep impact, especially the lines:
"Ek chhota agrah hai tujhse, ye mera yauvann mat lena,
Umra main tujhse rushth nahin hoon, jo tera aabhar na maanun, main utna bhi dusht nahin hoon."
Smt. Shakuntala Sarupriya recited her poem “Betiyaan”, and Arun Sanadhya added flavour to the evening with his ghazals. Smt. Poonam Bhu enthralled the audience with her poem titled “Patthar”. Smt. Veena Gaur presented her self-composed Saraswati Vandana, while Dr. Suman Pamecha earned applause for her satirical poem “Paisa Hai Bhagwan”. Dr. Yogesh Singhal reflected on life’s truths through his ghazals. Young poet Jagveer Singh amused the gathering with his satire “Dhenchu-Dhenchu”.
Many other prominent poets and lyricists also shared their beautiful creations. The session concluded with a thought-provoking address by Shri Shyam Rawat.
