#### Financial Irregularities in UDA to Be Investigated Following MP Dr. Rawat's Demand
Special audit ordered; report to be submitted within 30 days. Multi-thousand crore scam suspected.
Udaipur – Acting on a formal complaint by Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, the Rajasthan Government has ordered a probe into financial irregularities within the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). Joint Secretary of the Finance Department (Audit Section), Bhavani Singh Meena, has directed the Director of Local Fund Audit Department to carry out a detailed investigation and submit a report within 30 days.
MP Dr. Rawat had written a detailed letter to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the Minister of Urban Development and Autonomous Governance, urging a special audit for the fiscal years 2022–2024. Taking the matter seriously, the government has initiated formal procedures for an in-depth investigation.
According to Dr. Rawat, preliminary findings already indicate irregularities worth ₹1,000 crore, discovered through sample-based (test) audits limited to a short timeframe. He emphasized that a comprehensive special audit over the full period may reveal multi-thousand crore level discrepancies.
The MP further stated that two senior officials — Nitendra Pal Singh and Rajesh Joshi, former secretaries of the UDA — have already been suspended for their roles in the matter. Additionally, six other officials have been named responsible in the audit report.
Drawing a parallel with the special audit conducted in Nathdwara Municipality, Dr. Rawat has strongly recommended that the same level of scrutiny be applied in the case of UDA. Based on his demands, the Finance Department has issued formal instructions to proceed with the special audit.
This action marks a significant step toward ensuring transparency, accountability, and potentially exposing one of the largest scams in Rajasthan’s recent administrative history.
