Third Rajasthani Summer School Inaugurated at City Palace, Udaipur
The sweetness of our native Rajasthani language is now echoing across the globe, said Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, during the inauguration of the 7-day workshop "Third Rajasthani Summer School" held jointly by the Foundation and the Rajasthani Bhasha Academy at City Palace, Udaipur.
Dr. Mewar remarked that just like the region’s traditional cuisine and flavors have gained worldwide appreciation, so has the love for its native language. He emphasized that the respectful tone and expressions used in Rajasthani speech give people a sense of pride and belonging, which has led to growing interest among people to learn the language. Comparing linguistic harmony to rivers merging into the ocean, he said Indian languages are enriched by borrowing words from each other, a hallmark of our cultural unity.
The Rajasthani Bhasha Academy, dedicated to the preservation, education, and research of the Rajasthani language, is actively working through initiatives like the “Seekho Rajasthani” project. It brings together academicians, writers, researchers, and students through structured learning programs. The academy is mentored by renowned scholars like Prof. Dalpat Rajpurohit of the University of Texas and Padma Shri awardee Prof. Ganesh Devy.
With a strong focus on keeping Rajasthani language and culture alive for future generations, the academy organizes various workshops, publications, and educational activities. It aims to give the Rajasthani language a global identity.
During the inaugural session, scholars under the leadership of Dr. Deepti Kheda and Vishesh Kothari shed light on various aspects of Rajasthani folk culture, literature, art, traditions, and history.
Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar interacted with all participants, posed for photographs, and extended his best wishes, commending the Academy’s continued efforts to promote the language on a global stage.
