Pratap Gaurav Kendra Resonates with Chants of ‘Jai Kanhaiyalal Ki’


 

Udaipur: The Pratap Gaurav Kendra – Rashtriya Teerth echoed with the devotional chants of “Haathi Ghoda Paalki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” on Thursday afternoon during the flag-off of a special promotional chariot for the upcoming Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav, to be held from 15–17 August.

The chariot was ceremonially flagged off by Dr. Vasudev Devnani, Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, by waving the saffron flag. As the flag was raised, the air filled with jubilant chants celebrating Lord Krishna. Also present as a special guest was Nimbaram, Regional Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Anurag Saxena, Director of Pratap Gaurav Kendra, shared that the three-day celebration—organized under the Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Samiti, Udaipur—will take place in the Kendra’s Bhakti Dham premises. The festivities will feature a range of cultural and devotional events dedicated to Lord Krishna.

The promotional chariot will tour Udaipur and nearby areas, inviting citizens and tourists to join the celebrations and participate in various competitions.

Programme Coordinator Shambhu Gameti informed that the launch event was attended by Samiti President Prof. B.P. Sharma, Vice President M.M. Tank, General Secretary Pawan Sharma, Minister Dr. Suhas Manohar, and several executive members including Ashok Singh Metwala, Chandraput Singh Chauhan, and Gayatri Swarnkar.

Key Highlights of the Janmashtami Mahotsav:

15 August, 7 PM: Festivities to begin with Naav Manorath, followed by Raas Leela enactment and a soulful Bhajan Sandhya.

16 August, 7 AM: Panchamrit Abhishek of Lord Krishna, followed by Prasad distribution.

16 August, 1–5 PM: Jhanki Competition, where schools and institutions will present live tableaux depicting various episodes from Krishna’s life.

16 August, 7 PM: Dahi Handi Competition depicting the playful Makhan Chori Leela; winning team to receive ₹51,000.

17 August, 2 PM: Fancy Dress Competition, where children and mothers will dress as Krishna, Radha, Balram, Yashoda, and other divine characters.

The organisers aim to make the Mahotsav a vibrant blend of devotion, tradition, and cultural celebration, drawing participation from across the region.
