#### Action Taken Against Overpriced Liquor Sales in Multiple Districts

Kota, August. The Excise Department has taken action against liquor shops selling alcohol at rates higher than the prescribed prices. According to sources and eyewitnesses, the shop of self-proclaimed Liquor Contractors’ Union President Vinod Pareta in Kaithoon was found selling liquor at inflated rates, prompting action by the Jhalawar Excise Department team. Reports indicate that beer bottles were being sold for up to ₹250. Similarly, the Bundi Excise team also conducted action at a liquor shop in Anta. It is reported that several locations in Jhalawar also witnessed action against overpriced liquor sales.

When contacted, Additional Excise Commissioner of Kota, Naresh Malav, stated that such actions are a regular part of the department’s work, but for specific details, one should contact the Kota District Excise Officer (DEO) Bhanwar Lal. DEO Bhanwar Lal clarified that no action was taken by their department, and the operations were carried out by teams from outside districts. Attempts to reach Jhalawar Excise Officer Mukesh Prajapati were unsuccessful. Concern has been expressed that while excise teams from other districts are operating in Kota, the local department remains inactive, despite the responsibility of the Additional Commissioner to coordinate district-level operations. Notably, there are ongoing reports of liquor being sold above MRP from Itawa to Sultanpur.

Action in Jaipur
In Jaipur Heritage area, action was taken against three liquor shops for charging above the fixed prices of liquor. At Composite Liquor Shop No. 6, a dummy customer was sent, revealing that licensee Krishna Arora charged ₹180 for beer instead of the ₹175 MRP. The shop also had 34 expired beer bottles and failed to produce the worker’s employment agreement (naukarnama).

At Shop No. 1, licensee Harsh Sahu was found overcharging on beer and also failed to provide the naukarnama. Multiple brand advertising hoardings were found at the premises. Licensee Sandeep Khandelwal was similarly caught selling beer above MRP without providing the naukarnama.

These actions were carried out under the direction of Jaipur City District Excise Officer Devika Tomar, led by Assistant Excise Officers Pradeep Bishnoi and Shivkumar Chaudhary.
