A public hearing was conducted by MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat on Monday at the MP office located in the Zila Parishad premises, where more than 50 delegations from urban and rural areas presented their demands. Citizens approached with issues such as culverts, road repairs, and additional classrooms in schools.
The Hotel Association of Udaipur submitted a memorandum seeking reduction in GST rates. Association President Surendrasingh Karohi and Senior Vice President Rajesh Agarwal discussed the proposed changes in GST slated for September and suggested that the current 12 percent rate should be reduced to 5 percent. They said this would provide a booster to tourism across the country while easing financial pressure on visitors.
Residents demanded removal of mobile towers installed within colonies. Vardhman Nagar Vikas Samiti highlighted a tower set up overnight near Palodda House, Sector 12. Former Councillor Girish Bharti urged directions to UDA for providing basic facilities in Ratakhet and Harsh Nagar colonies. Women’s Mandal Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma sought sanction under the Tribal Participation Scheme for renovation of Kasturba Tribal Girls’ Hostel.
From Kherwada’s Bawalwada Panchayat, villagers demanded urgent repairs on Ratlam–Swaroopganj National Highway 927A, damaged by heavy rainfall and closed for a week between Sulai and Magra. Panchayat Samiti member Surajmal Meena and administrator Meera from Popalti Panchayat submitted a demand letter for a Sub-Health Centre in Aad village, where 1,800 residents lack medical facilities within a 10-kilometer radius.
Villagers also pressed for an increase in employment days under MNREGA from 100 to 200, citing deepening livelihood challenges. Sarapanch Sugna Devi of Phalasia Panchayat Samiti, along with villagers, appealed for land allotment and housing rights to the Kathodi tribal community in Gurad, Kada, and Vayavada villages. Lack of land ownership, they said, has deprived them of benefits under government schemes and caused hurdles in obtaining caste certificates, residence proof, Aadhaar, and ration cards.
