Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar Meets President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi

Udaipur. Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, member of the former royal family of Mewar and descendant of Maharana Pratap, paid a courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, both dignitaries engaged in extensive discussions on contemporary national and international issues as well as the glorious history of Mewar and its contributions. Special focus was laid on critical subjects such as girls’ education, women’s safety, and women empowerment.

Dr. Mewar informed the President that the royal family of Mewar had initiated a pioneering effort to promote girls’ education 162 years ago. In 1863, Maharana Shambhu Singhji established the Shambhu Pathshala, which continues today as the Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Jagdish Chowk, Udaipur, where more than 600 girls are currently studying. Upholding this legacy, the royal family still provides computers, books, and stationery to the students of the school.

It may be recalled that on Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar’s invitation, President Murmu had visited the Udaipur City Palace on 3 October 2024, where she was warmly received by the Mewar royal family.
