Udaipur, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Udaipur City District organized a press conference at the party office, Patel Circle, focusing on the recently introduced Next-Gen GST Reforms. The session was addressed by BJP City District President Gajpal Singh Rathore, Udaipur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, and BJP City District General Secretary & GST Reforms District Convener Paras Singhvi.
Speaking at the conference, District President Gajpal Singh Rathore highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of GST relief as a “new Diwali gift before Diwali,” calling it a crucial step toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He also outlined activities under BJP’s “Seva Pakhwada”, observed nationwide from September 17 (PM Modi’s birthday) to October 2, including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives in public spaces and stepwells, Fit India Modi Marathon, tree plantation under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” intellectual conferences, divyang (differently-abled) honor programs, and Khadi promotion on Gandhi Jayanti.
MLA Phool Singh Meena informed about major developmental works in the rural constituency, including approval for an overbridge and underpass at Paras Chauraha, widening of key road networks, and budget allocations for repair works across the region.
MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat emphasized that GST, conceptualized during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2000 and implemented nationwide on July 1, 2017, has been India’s biggest tax reform. After 50+ council meetings, the new Next-Gen GST 2.0 announced on September 3, 2025, has simplified rates from four slabs (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) to only 5% and 18%, with a special 40% rate on luxury and tobacco products. He stressed the relief provided to citizens, noting that essential daily-use items (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, children’s products), agricultural equipment (tractors, pesticides), medicines, oxygen, notebooks, and insurance services now fall under zero or 5% tax categories. Automobiles, previously taxed at 28%, now attract only 18%.
Paras Singhvi, District General Secretary and GST Reforms Convener, added that GST payers have increased from 65 lakh in 2017 to over 1.5 crore today, with collections rising from ₹11 lakh crore to ₹22.08 lakh crore in 2024-25. He described GST as a transformative journey of Reform, Perform, and Transform.
MP Rawat also announced details of the upcoming MP Sports Festival, which he said would energize youth participation and sporting culture.
The conference was coordinated by Paras Singhvi, with industry leader Dhirendra Sachan and Chartered Accountant Ashish Kothari present as co-conveners.
In her vote of thanks, Media In-Charge Dr. Seema Champawat said that the Prime Minister has acted as the head of a family, ensuring every citizen benefits from GST reforms, which will now pave the way for inclusive growth.
