Over 400 scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from 17 states to participate

Udaipur,  The three-day National Conference on “Advancement of Sustainable Plant Protection in the Changing Agricultural Scenario” will commence at 10 a.m. on September 18, Thursday, at the New Auditorium of Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. More than 400 agricultural scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from 17 states will attend the event.

The conference will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary. Rajasthan Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, and Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary DARE & Director General, ICAR, New Delhi, will grace the occasion as special guests. The inaugural session will be chaired by MPUAT Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnataka.

Chief Organizing Secretary Dr. Manoj Kumar Mahla informed that MPUAT, the Entomological Research Association, and the Crop Care Federation of India are jointly organizing the conference. Discussions will focus on effective plant protection, precision technologies, and pest management in the face of changing agricultural landscapes. Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, agricultural scientists and pesticide industry representatives will deliberate on future strategies. Forty individuals will be honored for their remarkable contributions to the field of plant protection.

Dr. Mahla highlighted that India’s current population of 1.45 billion is projected to reach 1.70 billion by 2050. With shrinking cultivable land, water scarcity, and climate change-induced pest and disease threats, nearly 30–40 percent of crops are lost annually. Emphasis must therefore be placed on bio-pesticides, integrated pest management, and eco-friendly solutions.

Leading agrochemical companies—Pesticides India, UPL, Aristo Biotech, Dhanuka Agritech, Syngenta, Sumitomo, Indofil, Crystal Crop Care, Bayer, Gharda Chemicals, and Best Agro—will also participate. The discussions will address maximizing productivity on existing land, efficient resource utilization, crop diversification, climate resilience, and post-harvest management.
