Focused Deliberations on Stroke, Neurointervention, and Neurotheology

Inauguration of the 12th Udaipur Course on Neurosciences National Conference

Udaipur: The two-day national conference, 12th Udaipur Course on Neurosciences, organized by the Pacific Center of Neurosciences at Pacific Medical College & Hospital, was inaugurated today at Lalgarh Palace Resort, Udaipur. This year, the conference primarily focuses on stroke, neurointervention, and neurotheology, drawing participation from neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, resident doctors, and researchers from across India and abroad.

Course Director Prof. Dr. Atulabh Vajpeyi stated that the conference aims to connect the medical community with the latest research and techniques in stroke management, neurointervention, and neurotheology. A unique feature of the event is the integration of modern advancements in neurosciences with the Indian spiritual perspective.

On the first day, the opening technical session was centered on stroke and neurointervention. Beginning at 9 AM, the session featured in-depth lectures on various aspects of stroke management and neurointervention. Dr. M.V. Padma delivered a talk on evaluating stroke patients, while Dr. Pawan Ojha shared the latest techniques in AI-based stroke imaging. Dr. Girish Rajpal and Dr. Amit Aslam Khan discussed complex stroke types, including large vessel occlusion and medium vessel occlusion.

In the second session, Dr. Tufail Patankar, Dr. Mukesh Sharma, and Dr. Atulabh Vajpeyi shared their experiences on carotid stenting, the stroke clock concept, and neurorehabilitation. Dr. Vajpeyi also presented a lecture on atherosclerosis in intracranial arteries, explaining that the buildup of fat, cholesterol, and other substances inside the brain’s arteries can slow or obstruct blood flow, potentially causing a stroke.

The conference’s second technical session focused on aneurysm management, covering diagnosis and treatment techniques. Dr. Rakesh Singh, Dr. Anil Karapurkar, Dr. Uday S. Limaye, and Dr. Tufail Patankar discussed topics such as cerebral DSA hardware selection, bifurcation aneurysms, and side-wall aneurysms. Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Manish Chugh, and Dr. Vivek Gupta provided key insights on intrasaccular devices for giant and blister aneurysms, FD complications, and comparative use of cobalt-chrome and DFT devices.

The conference not only serves as a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge but also represents an important effort to integrate Indian medical science with cultural values. On the second day, September 28, a national symposium on neurotheology will be held, featuring discussions on the convergence of medicine, science, and spirituality.
