New Delhi/Pali. P.P. Choudhary, MP from Pali (Rajasthan), leader of India's first delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, former Union Minister of State, and Chairman of the One Nation One Election Joint Parliamentary Committee, presented the power of the official language Hindi and India's efforts to promote its progress to the world community at the annual Hindi Diwas celebrations held at the UN Headquarters in New York. He said that Hindi holds a very high position among the world's most spoken languages. Today, approximately 600 million people speak it. Hindi is not just a language; it symbolizes India's spirit, identity, and unity. It is the thread that connects the entire country, from north to south and east to west. This linguistic connection is a powerful medium to bring us closer to each other. Currently, the global stature of Hindi has been strengthened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speeches in Hindi on global platforms.

At the ceremony, MP Chaudhary said, "I am happy to report that the use of Hindi is continuously increasing throughout the world. Hindi is being taught and used in daily life in many countries such as Mauritius, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Fiji, and Guyana. The World Hindi Secretariat in Mauritius is playing a vital role in promoting the Hindi language. There is also a large Hindi-speaking population in the United States, and universities like Yale host Hindi debate competitions. Hindi courses are also available at prestigious universities like Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Chicago, and Texas. Hindi is also popular at Oxford and Cambridge universities in England."

In his address, MP Chaudhary highlighted the significant contribution of Hindi to India's independence, saying that during the era of slavery, when the people of India came from different regions and languages, Hindi brought them together on a single platform. Slogans like "Vande Mataram" and "Jai Hind" reached the masses through Hindi and still resonate in our hearts. Even after independence, Hindi played a significant role in strengthening India's political and social unity. Our Constitution, in the Devanagari script, designated Hindi as the official language of India. This symbolizes that the language is not only a medium of communication but also a symbol of unity and respect.

MP Chaudhary, highlighting the universality of Hindi, said that Hindi has left an indelible impact not only on politics but also on culture and art. Through Hindi songs and films, the language has reached Russia, Egypt, Africa, and Latin America. People dance to the tunes of Hindi songs without even knowing their meaning; this is the magical power of Hindi. Even in today's digital age, Hindi is making its mark globally. Through social media, yoga, and international education, Hindi is now becoming the language of global communication. He noted that on June 10, 2025, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on multilingualism, co-sponsored by India. This resolution mentioned the Hindi language for the first time. Under this initiative, the United Nations was asked to continue disseminating its important information in non-official languages, including Hindi. In September 2024, Hindi was again mentioned in the UN General Assembly resolution on multilingualism.

Concluding his address, MP Chaudhary said that a language is not just a collection of words; it is a feeling of the heart. Hindi is the soul of India, and this soul is now spreading its sweet echoes across the world, transcending borders. He urged the representatives from all member states present at the event to take the Hindi language even further. The event was attended by a delegation of Members of Parliament, Permanent Representatives, Deputy Permanent Representatives, diplomats and several UN personnel from India.
