Barbados /New Delhi/Jaipur, October 10. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani participated as Rajasthan's representative at the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) held in Barbados.
The theme of the conference was "Good Governance, Multilateralism, and the Role of the Commonwealth in International Relations." Speakers of legislative bodies from around the world shared their views on democracy, transparency, and global cooperation.
*The Commonwealth: A vibrant family of shared values:* In his address, Devnani stated that this family of Commonwealth countries is bound not by power or coercion, but by shared values: democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. It is a powerful symbol of unity in diversity. He said that today, this 56-nation association has become one of the world's most diverse and influential forums, strengthening democracy, making institutions transparent, and promoting development.
Good Governance and Digital Transparency: India's Leadership: Devnani stated that good governance is at the core of the Commonwealth's mission.
India has provided the world with a unique model of digital governance and accountability in this direction. He stated that India's CPGRAMS system, recognized by the Commonwealth Secretariat as a global best practice in "smart governance," is an acknowledgment of India's transparent governance system. He also noted that India's digital stack model is revolutionizing citizen participation and service delivery.
Referring to Rajasthan, he said that Rajasthan has fully digitized its Legislative Assembly through "One Nation, One Application" and the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA). This marks a new chapter in transparency and efficiency.
*Multilateralism and Global Partnership:*Devnani stated that the Commonwealth is a dynamic multilateral forum that encourages global dialogue and shared action. He noted that India's role has been not just that of a participant but that of a pioneer, whether it involves technology partnerships for developing countries or collaborations in artificial intelligence and green energy.
Through India's UN Development Partnership Fund (India-UN Development Fund), more than 80 projects are being supported in nearly 60 countries, half of which are Commonwealth-related.
Rajasthan's Role and Contribution:*. Devnani stated that the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly is actively participating in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region.
This partnership is advancing not only parliamentary innovation but also women's empowerment, digital parliamentary processes, and youth participation. Rajasthan is rooted in the soil of democracy, where dialogue is tradition and transparency is culture.
Devnani said that when global challenges transcend borders, institutions like the Commonwealth are a beacon of hope. The experience of India and Rajasthan shows that through digital democracy, transparency and participation we can create a more just, inclusive and sustainable world.
