Udaipur: Under the guidance of the Member Secretary of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, a meeting of the Victim Compensation Scheme was held under the chairmanship of Gyan Prakash Gupta, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Udaipur. The meeting was attended by Palwinder Singh, Judicial Magistrate Family Court No. 1; Ambika Solanki, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Udaipur; ADM City Udaipur Jitendra Ojha; representative of Additional Superintendent of Police, Lakham Ram; President of the Bar Association, Udaipur Chandrabhan Singh Shaktawat; and Public Prosecutor Ramkripa Sharma, Udaipur.
District Legal Services Authority Secretary, Kuldeep Sharma, informed that five cases were resolved during the meeting, awarding a total of ₹10 lakh in victim compensation to the victims and their dependents. Separate amounts were approved for the families and dependents of the victims to provide them with financial security, with instructions to deposit the sums in their savings accounts or to invest in fixed deposits (FDRs). Compensation under the Victim Compensation Scheme is provided in cases of sexual assault, murder, and POCSO-related offences to the victims and their dependents.
Additionally, under the guidance of the Member Secretary of Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, a meeting of the Detention Review Committee was held, also chaired by Gyan Prakash Gupta. Kuldeep Sharma stated that the committee reviewed pending cases in which prisoners have served at least half of their maximum sentence and the cases are still under consideration.
