Rajasthan, Anta: The political suspense over the Anta Assembly by-election has ended with Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya’s nomination validated by the Election Officer. Earlier concerns regarding objections raised by opposition candidates had created uncertainty about the acceptance of his nomination. Following a detailed verification of documents, including affidavits, bank statements, and asset declarations, the Election Officer confirmed that all documents are valid and in order, bringing relief to Bhaya’s supporters.

Bhaya, a former State Mining Minister, is recognized for his administrative acumen and development work in roads, education, and the mining sector. His confirmed nomination strengthens his position and reshapes the electoral landscape in Anta.

Meanwhile, the by-election has turned into a quadrangular contest with:

Pramod Jain Bhaya (Congress)

Morpal Suman (BJP)

Naresh Meena (Independent, Congress rebel)

Rampal Meghwal (BJP rebel, former MLA)

BJP and Congress are reportedly pressuring their rebel candidates to withdraw nominations. The entry of Rampal Meghwal has stirred excitement, although political analysts suggest it may not significantly affect BJP’s prospects. On the other hand, Naresh Meena’s presence could impact Pramod Jain Bhaya’s vote share, especially among Dalit voters, traditionally leaning towards Congress.

The final list of candidates will be clear after October 27, when the withdrawal period ends. The by-election is now set to witness intense political maneuvering, with both major parties navigating the challenges posed by rebel candidates.
