##### Vice Chancellor Prof. Pratap Singh Inspects College of Dairy and Food Technology

Udaipur: Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, Prof. Pratap Singh visited the College of Dairy and Food Technology on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. During his inspection, he reviewed departmental facilities and provided significant guidance to faculty and students for academic and research advancement.

Prof. Singh emphasized that the college’s tomato, ice cream, and bakery processing units should now move beyond teaching purposes and be utilized for industry collaboration, revenue generation, and start-up promotion. He said this approach would help students understand market trends and industry demands more effectively through hands-on learning.

Highlighting research priorities, Prof. Singh urged focused studies and value addition of underutilized fruits, vegetables, and pulses found in tribal areas — such as Timru, Phalsa, Jamun, and Soybean. He stated that developing products based on local resources would help these fruits gain market recognition, provide better returns to tribal producers, and create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities at the rural level through FPOs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). He also suggested prioritizing natural and health-promoting ingredients in research to reduce dependence on artificial sweeteners.

During the inspection, Prof. Singh visited the Departments of Chemistry and Microbiology and instructed the preparation of project proposals for upgrading laboratories with modern equipment and advanced safety infrastructure. He also stressed strengthening digital libraries and e-learning platforms to connect students with global knowledge resources.

He further highlighted that the college’s skill development programs should focus on empowering rural youth from tribal belts by training them in food processing, marketing, and entrepreneurship management, enabling them to establish their own start-ups and contribute to community development.

Concluding his visit, Prof. Singh expressed confidence that the College of Dairy and Food Technology would emerge as an exemplary model in innovation, research, industry collaboration, and social development, assuring the university’s full support for its progress.
