Public Made Aware About Diabetes Prevention Through Walkathon

#### ‘Run for Diabetes’ Held at Fatehsagar

Udaipur, Under the Diabetes Awareness Fortnight organized by the Department of Medicine at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), a grand “Diabetes Walkathon and Rally” was held today at the Fatehsagar Lake promenade. The event aimed to spread awareness among the public about diabetes prevention, regular check-ups, balanced diet, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Participants enthusiastically joined the rally, raising slogans of “Run for Diabetes” and carrying posters and banners displaying messages about diabetes control and prevention, marching from Rajiv Gandhi Park to the Dewali end of Fatehsagar.

The event was graced by Dr. Girish Verma (Head, Department of Medicine, PMCH), Diabetologists Dr. Jagdish Vishnoi and Dr. Virendra Choudhary, PDRC’s Dr. Saurabh Goyal and Dr. Neha Chadha, Dr. Sunil Joshi and Sanjay Nagda from Tirupati Nursing College, Dr. Hemant Pandya, Gagan Yadav, and Dr. Neelam Vyas from Pacific University, Debari, and Dr. Vikas Poonia and Dr. Pulkit Choudhary from Darshan Dental College.

More than 500 students, faculty members, and healthcare workers from various institutions under the Pacific Group of Colleges actively participated in the event. The participants created awareness among the public through slogan banners, health messages, and colorful posters.

PMCH Chairman Rahul Agrawal congratulated the Department of Medicine for successfully organizing the event and said that such awareness campaigns play a vital role in promoting public health consciousness. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in preventing lifestyle-related diseases like diabetes.

Program Coordinator and PMCH Medicine Professor Dr. Jagdish Vishnoi stated that the event aimed to raise awareness about diabetes, encourage people to undergo timely check-ups, exercise regularly, and maintain a healthy diet. He added that diabetes is a disease that gradually affects the body, and many people fail to recognize its symptoms in time, leading to complications. The walkathon was thus organized to inspire timely diagnosis and prevention among the public.
