National MaxFac Skill Course Organized at Geetanjali Dental and Research Institute, Udaipur

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Geetanjali Dental and Research Institute (GDRI), Udaipur, successfully organized the National MaxFac Skill Course at the GMCH Skill Lab. This marked the fourth consecutive edition of the national-level training program, aimed at enhancing clinical excellence and surgical proficiency among young oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

The two-day hands-on course saw enthusiastic participation from 80 postgraduate students and practitioners representing dental institutions across India. The program focused on developing essential surgical skills and procedural expertise required for managing maxillofacial and emergency surgical conditions.

Dr. Ramakant Reddy Dubbudu, Consultant, AIG Hospital, Hyderabad, served as the Course Director and conducted an extensive session on injection techniques, IV line setup, and blood sampling.
Dr. Shalu Bansal, Professor and Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, GDRI, Udaipur, acted as the Course Convener and led a detailed session on tracheostomy care.

The distinguished faculty panel included:

  • Dr. Alka Chhabra, Professor and Head, Department of Anesthesiology, Geetanjali Medical College and Research Institute, Udaipur – Endotracheal Intubation

  • Dr. Priya Darshini Kaushik, Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, R.R. Dental College, Udaipur – General Surgical Skills

  • Dr. Khalid Mohammad Aghvani, Professor and Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Darshan Dental College, Udaipur – Artificial Airways and Ventilation

  • Dr. Joanna Baptist, Associate Professor, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore – Suturing Techniques and Surgical Knot Tying

  • Dr. Vidya Devi, Consultant, Hyderabad – Urinary Catheterization and Nasogastric Tube Insertion

  • Dr. Visalakshi D, Government Dental College and Hospital, Hyderabad – Surgical Drains and Wound Care

On the occasion, Dr. Balaji Manohar, Principal, Geetanjali Dental and Research Institute, emphasized that structured skill-based training is vital in postgraduate education. He appreciated the continued success of the MaxFac Skill Course, which effectively bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in emergency management under the guidance of an experienced national faculty panel.

The event concluded with certificate distribution and mementos of appreciation presented to the faculty members. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to continue this academic initiative and to promote excellence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery education in the years to come.
