Birsa Munda’s 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrated at Shilpgram
Captivating Dance Performances by Artists and Students
Udaipur, A special cultural programme titled “Sondh Maati Aadi Kalangan” was organised on Friday at the Banjara Chowk of Shilpgram to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Furqan Khan, Director of the West Zone Cultural Centre, informed that the event was conducted jointly by the District Administration Udaipur, the Tribal Area Development Department Udaipur, and the West Zone Cultural Centre Udaipur. The programme showcased various tribal art forms, beginning with the Sahariya Swang performance by the Gopal Dhanuk troupe from Baran district, which received great appreciation from the audience.
This was followed by the traditional Gavri folk theatre presentation of the Mewar region, performed by Mangeelal and his team from Alsigarh, Udaipur. Students from Veer Bala Kalibai Hostel presented the graceful Chari Dance, while the girls from Khel Balika Hostel, Madhuban, mesmerised the audience with a beautiful tribal dance performance.
Later, Mrs. Tasveer and her troupe from Baran district presented the Chakri Dance. The event concluded with the energetic Rathwa Dance performed by Mangesh Bhai and his troupe from Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat, who had arrived to participate in Shilpgram’s Shilpdarshan.
The programme commenced with floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda by the Chief Guest, Nirma Vishnoi, Deputy Commissioner, Tribal Area Development Department; Pawan Amarawat, Deputy Director (Programme), WZCC Udaipur; Durgesh Chandwani, Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts); and C.L. Salvi, Superintending Engineer. The proceedings were conducted by Uday Singh Kitawat, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Durgesh Chandwani.
Students from the Ayurvedic College and JK School, Nimbahera, along with a large number of domestic and international tourists, attended the programme.
