Udaipur. As part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a cultural programme titled “Soundh Maati Aadi Kalangan” was organised on Friday at Banjara Chowk in Shilpgram.
Furkan Khan, Director, West Zone Cultural Centre, informed that the event was jointly organised by the Udaipur District Administration, Tribal Area Development Department, and the West Zone Cultural Centre. The programme showcased diverse tribal art forms, beginning with the Sahariya Swang presented by Gopal Dhanuk and his troupe from Baran district, which received great appreciation from the audience.
This was followed by the traditional Gavri folk theatre performance of the Mewar region, presented by Mangilal and his team from Alsigarh, Udaipur. Students of Veer Bala Kalibai Girls Hostel then delivered an impressive Chari Dance performance, after which students from the Sports Girls Hostel, Madhuban, presented a graceful tribal dance. A vibrant Chakri Dance was presented by Tasveer and her troupe from Baran district. The event concluded with the lively Rathwa Dance performed by Mangesh Bhai and his team from the Rathwa tribe of Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat, currently participating in Shilpdarshan at Shilpgram.
The programme commenced with the chief guest, Nirma Vishnoi, Deputy Commissioner of the Tribal Area Development Department, along with Pawan Amarawat, Deputy Director (Programmes), Durgesh Chandwani, Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts), and Superintendent Engineer C.L. Salvi, offering floral tributes to the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The proceedings were conducted by Uday Singh Kitawat, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Director (Finance & Accounts) Durgesh Chandwani.
A large number of students from Ayurveda College and JK School Nimbahera, along with numerous domestic and international tourists, attended the event.
