Bangalore : Amid escalating climate risks and an impending energy crisis, the global transition towards cleaner technologies has become an urgent priority. In this context, the India–Sweden Innovation’s Accelerator (ISIA) program stands as a pioneering initiative fostering green technology collaboration between the two nations. The program has been instrumental in accelerating the adoption of advanced sustainable solutions, thereby driving the transition towards a low-carbon future. Supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, with Business Sweden – The Swedish Trade and Invest Council and the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (CII-GBC), Hyderabad as local program partners, ISIA has played a vital role in deepening bilateral cooperation in the cleantech sector. Since its inception in 2012, the ISIA program has introduced more than 75 Swedish cleantech companies to the Indian market, facilitating over 250 collaborative projects and enabling the establishment of seven local subsidiaries. These efforts have contributed significantly to national initiatives such as Make in India and Swachh Bharat Mission. Now in its 13th edition, the program brings together 9 innovative Swedish companies visiting India from 18–25 November 2025 to engage with Indian industry stakeholders. As part of this delegation, a workshop on innovative clean technologies and a series of B2B meetings between the Swedish delegation and Indian industry were organized in Bangalore on 20 November 2025. The participating companies presented cutting-edge solutions aimed at advancing the clean energy transition, with a focus on green energy, water management and conservation, energy efficiency, e-mobility in waterways, green propulsion and propellant, energy management, resource management, grid management, and solar module solutions.
The workshop began with an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Chandrashekar Hariharan, Immediate Past Chairman, IGBC Bangalore Chapter and Trustee, AltTech Foundation. In his address, he emphasized that India’s sustainability journey is entering a decisive phase where resource efficiency, energy-efficient technologies, and process optimization must take center stage. Welcoming the Swedish technology providers and strong Indian industry participation, he expressed confidence that the workshop would catalyze scalable solutions and impactful partnerships toward a sustainable, low-carbon future. Mr. Pawan Tahlani, Head of Business Sweden – New Delhi, in his theme address highlighted how India and Sweden share a common vision for a green future—driven by innovation, sustainable economic growth, clean energy, and climate action. The ISIA program is a practical expression of this shared commitment, designed to help Swedish companies succeed in India while enabling Indian partners to access proven, high-impact clean technologies. India’s rapidly growing energy needs, combined with its commitment to a low- carbon future, make it a critical market for high-quality smart and renewable energy solutions, circular economy innovations, and efficient resource management—areas in which Swedish companies excel. He called for deeper industry-to-industry collaboration to accelerate the deployment of clean technologies that enhance competitiveness while reducing carbon intensity. Mr. Nils Henoch, Senior Business Developer – International Market Development & Investment, delivered the special address and underscored the Swedish Energy Agency’s long-standing commitment to enabling global energy transformation through innovative technologies and strategic international partnerships. He emphasized that the ISIA program has become a cornerstone of Sweden’s engagement with India. Now in its 13th year, the program has introduced more than 75 Swedish companies to India, fostering collaboration and technology transfer. The workshop in Bangalore featured eight Swedish companies showcasing proven solutions in renewable energy, circular economy, and resource efficiency, tailored to meet India’s rapidly growing energy needs. Highlighting Sweden’s global leadership in cleantech and climate innovation, he noted that the participating Swedish companies are well-positioned to support India’s rapidly evolving sustainability landscape. He reaffirmed that the Agency remains committed to deepening cooperation and co-creating solutions that accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon, resilient future. Mr. Ludvig Foghammar, Economic Counsellor and Head of Trade, Economics & Cultural Affairs, Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi, emphasized that sustainability, digitalization, and innovation form the foundation of the India–Sweden partnership. He highlighted the strength and strategic depth of the India–Sweden relationship, noting that sustainability, innovation, and green transition have become central pillars of bilateral cooperation. He emphasized: “It’s time for Sweden, especially time for India”—Sweden’s global leadership in renewable energy, waste-to-value solutions, energy-efficient technologies, and sustainable mobility—domains that have strong complementarities with India’s national priorities. He stated that the ISIA platform reflects the shared vision of both governments to jointly foster innovation, strengthen industry connections, and address global climate challenges. He expressed confidence that the workshop and B2B engagements will lead to new avenues for collaboration, investment, and technology-led partnerships that support both nations’ long- term sustainability goals. He also reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support in facilitating policy and industry linkages that contribute to shared global climate objectives and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Following the inaugural, the workshop featured presentations by eight leading Swedish cleantech companies showcasing advanced technologies in electric water mobility, solar innovation, electro-fuel, green fuels propulsion systems, water and energy optimization, and industrial process efficiency. The India–Sweden Innovation’s Accelerator (ISIA) stands as a strong symbol of bilateral collaboration, fostering partnerships among innovators, industries, and institutions from both nations. Over the past decade, ISIA has connected more than 75 Swedish cleantech innovators with hundreds of Indian partners, facilitating technology demonstrations and commercial collaborations across diverse sectors such as energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, resource efficiency, and circular economy solutions. The Bangalore workshop, with over 50 eminent industry leaders, government agencies, associations, and technology providers, reaffirmed both nations’ shared vision of a sustainable, inclusive, and low-carbon future—emphasizing the need for deeper cooperation across innovation ecosystems, research partnerships, and financial mechanisms to translate cleantech innovation into large-scale climate action.
