The closing ceremony of National Library Week, observed from 14–20 November, was held with dignity at the Government Mandal Public Library in Kota. Throughout the week, the library organised a series of activities such as read-aloud sessions, book exhibitions, and outreach programmes aimed at promoting a vibrant reading culture. These initiatives drew enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, and book lovers.
At the valedictory event, Ms. Madhu Mandal and Ms. Harshita Yogi were honoured with medals and certificates for their exceptional performance during the week. Both contributed significantly through event coordination, programme anchoring, and conducting reading-motivational activities.
Distinguished attendees included Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava, Dr. Shashi Jain, Narendra Sharma, Ramniwas Dhakad, and Ajay Saxena. They praised the community-oriented approach of the week-long activities and emphasised the importance of strengthening reading habits in society.
In his remarks, Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava noted, “A library is not merely a collection of books; it is a centre for the intellectual growth of the community. This week has proven that people are eager to connect with knowledge and reading.”
Shashi Jain described the initiative as an effective step toward engaging the younger generation with libraries, saying, “Read-aloud and outreach activities serve as strong tools to build reading habits among youth.”
Advocate Narendra Sharma appreciated the efforts of young achievers, adding, “These talented individuals have shown how youth leadership can bring new direction to library culture.”
Ramniwas Dhakad highlighted the week as a platform that enhanced community–library interaction, while Ajay Saxena reaffirmed the continuing relevance of libraries, stating that, “Libraries remain as significant as ever; we must continue connecting them with modern activities.”
In conclusion, the library administration expressed gratitude to all participants and supporters, reiterating its commitment to sustaining such initiatives that cultivate reading culture and foster knowledge development.
