New Delhi, At FICCI’s 15th Global Sports Summit ‘TURF 2025’ and the ‘India Sports Awards 2025’, Reliance Foundation was honoured for its remarkable contribution to Indian sports. Under the visionary leadership of Smt. Nita M. Ambani, the Foundation has been empowering sports from the grassroots to high-performance levels. Owing to her transformative leadership in sports, Nita Ambani is widely regarded as one of India’s emerging ‘Sports Leaders’.
FICCI presented Reliance Foundation with the award for ‘Best Corporate Promoting Sports – High Performance’, stating: “This award is being conferred on the Foundation’s Chairperson, Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, for her far-sighted vision and impactful leadership. As the first Indian woman member of the International Olympic Committee, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening the Olympic Movement worldwide and elevating India’s sporting aspirations. Under her guidance, Reliance Foundation has launched several game-changing initiatives – from grassroots programmes to elite athlete development.”
Nita Ambani dedicated the award to the Reliance Foundation family and to young sportspersons across the nation. While accepting the honour, she said:
“The coming decade will be the golden decade for Indian sports. The time has come for India to emerge as a global multi-sporting powerhouse. Hosting the 2036 Olympic Games is the collective dream of 1.4 billion Indians, and Reliance Foundation is committed to helping realise this dream.”
Highlighting the impact of the Foundation’s sports initiatives, she added that Reliance Foundation has positively influenced over 23 million young people across the country—supporting them at school level, community and grassroots level, and through high-performance training centres. “When our youth succeed, the nation stands tall with pride,” she said.
Speaking about the rising success of Indian women in sports, Nita Ambani remarked: “Sport has the power to transform lives, unite societies and energise nations. India’s sporting spirit is flourishing—from village playgrounds to global arenas. Our daughters continue to make the nation proud. When our girls play, every girl and every woman win.”
The summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders, athletes, and sports innovators to discuss and envision the future of Indian sports.
