Thousands of Devotees Welcome the Spiritual Leader on His Grand Entry into Udaipur

#### “A Life Without Knowledge Is Immersed in Darkness,” says Acharya Mahashraman

Udaipur — Acharya Shri Mahashraman received a historic welcome on Monday at Kaya–Balicha as thousands of devoted shravaks and shravikas gathered to greet him with resounding chants. The revered Acharya, along with his white-clad monastic group, was honored with deep devotion by followers lined across the entire route.

After the welcome procession, Acharya Shri proceeded to Marvel Water Park in Goverdhan Vilas, where he addressed a grand religious assembly. Highlighting the profound importance of knowledge in human life, he said that knowledge is essential for true clarity and purpose, for a life without knowledge remains enveloped in darkness.

He narrated an illustrative example: A man once approached a railway ticket counter asking for a ticket. When the clerk asked where he wished to go, he replied, “To my in-laws’ home.” But when asked where that was, the man said he had no idea. Acharya Shri explained that when a person lacks awareness about his goals, his destination, or the consequences of his actions—whether beneficial or harmful—then life becomes directionless and ultimately fruitless.

Acharya Mahashraman emphasized that the treasure of knowledge is abundantly available in scriptures and Jain Agamas, yet people often fail to find time to study them. Even when they try, obstacles such as health issues or family responsibilities arise. But despite challenges, one must make sincere efforts to absorb the essence of this vast knowledge, which can be truly attained in the presence of teachers, gurus, and saints.

He added that purity of mind paves the way to knowledge. Knowledge, conduct, perception, and penance are pathways to liberation. Along with knowledge, right perception is essential. Anyone who aligns true knowledge with purposeful effort is bound to succeed. “First knowledge, then conduct—that is the foundation of spirituality,” he said. Understanding righteousness, non-violence, sin, and virtue is vital, for ignorance is more painful than any sin. Through the union of knowledge and righteous conduct, a person can progress toward both worldly success and liberation. He also recalled memories of his earlier visit to Udaipur. The welcome ceremony was chaired by Kamal Nahata.

Grand Procession Through the City

Senior Vice President of Terapanth Sabha, Alok Pugaria, shared that before the assembly, Acharya Shri and his monastic group walked from Kaya PMC with thousands of followers. Devotees lined both sides of the 13 km route, chanting and joining the procession. Women in yellow sarees and men in white attire carried religious flags while chanting hymns. As the Acharya’s convoy reached Pragati Ashram, the crowd bowed in reverence. Hundreds of children from the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Mahila Mandal, and Gyanshala welcomed him.

Public Representatives and Officials Seek Blessings

City MLA Tarachand Jain, Udaipur Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Zila Pramukh Mamta Kunwar, former Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi, former Vallabhnagar MLA Priti Shaktawat, SP Yogesh Goyal, and several other dignitaries offered their respects and received blessings from the Acharya.
